Frequently asked questions

Before, during and after your repair.

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. For anything device-specific, call us or bring it into your nearest open store.

Do I need to book?

No. Walk-ins are welcome at our current open stores. Booking can make intake faster and gives the store advance notice that you are coming.

Can any store take my repair?

Yes. Any repair we advertise can start at any current open store. If the job needs a particular technician or specialist equipment, we manage the transfer internally.

How long does a repair take?

Some straightforward repairs can be completed in around 30 minutes when a technician and the required part are immediately available. Many common repairs are completed within about an hour, but timing depends on workload, parts, testing and the fault.

Will you quote before doing the repair?

Yes. Obvious faults can usually be priced directly. If diagnosis is required, we explain the assessment first. If the required work changes, we contact you before carrying out additional chargeable work.

When does the $89 assessment apply?

It applies when we need to disassemble or diagnose a device to determine the fault. If you proceed with the repair following a standard paid assessment, the $89 assessment is credited toward that repair.

What is different about liquid-damage assessment?

Liquid-damage assessment is $89 and is non-refundable. It includes disassembly, cleaning and basic soldering where appropriate. Any additional parts or repair work are quoted separately before proceeding.

Do you only repair iPhones?

No. We repair iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Oppo and supported Android devices, iPads and tablets, Apple Watch and wearables, Mac and Windows computers, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, plus board-level faults and data-recovery cases.

What screen options do you offer?

Depending on the model and supply, options can include Value LCD, Premium LCD, soft OLED and OEM options using Apple refurbished or Apple service-pack parts. We explain the available choices for your device before the repair.

Do repairs come with a warranty?

Our replacement parts carry a 12-month parts warranty, subject to the applicable terms and exclusions. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply independently and are not limited by our stated warranty period.

What is not covered by the parts warranty?

A warranty claim is assessed against the original repair. Subsequent physical or liquid damage, negligence, or a separate fault is not treated as a defect in the replacement part simply because it occurs during the warranty period.

Why might you need my passcode?

A passcode may be required for comprehensive functional testing before or after a repair. We only access what is reasonably necessary to diagnose, repair and test the device and do not routinely browse personal content or your camera roll.

Should I back up my device first?

Yes, wherever possible. Repairs to data-storing devices can involve a risk of data loss. We take reasonable care, but customers remain responsible for maintaining backups of important data.

Can I use Repair Mode or Maintenance Mode?

Yes, where your device supports it and the mode still allows the testing required for the repair. If a particular function cannot be tested in that mode, the store will explain what is needed.

Can you recover data from a device that will not turn on?

Sometimes. Data recovery is case-by-case and may require board-level diagnosis or repair. We cannot promise recovery before the device has been assessed, and an unsuccessful data-recovery attempt may still attract the $89 minimum assessment charge.

Do you repair no-power and board-level faults?

Yes. We handle microsoldering and board-level faults including no power, charging circuitry, corrosion, shorts and damaged board components across supported phones, tablets, computers and consoles.

Do you repair PS5 and Nintendo Switch?

Yes. Console work includes faults such as PS5 HDMI issues and Nintendo Switch charging, USB-C and board-level faults, subject to diagnosis and parts availability.

What happens if the repair is not economical?

We explain what we have found and the available options. Sometimes the sensible outcome is not to continue with a repair, or to focus on recovering important data instead.

Will my device still be waterproof after repair?

Opening a device can affect its original factory water resistance, and age or previous damage can also compromise seals. We do not recommend relying on a repaired device as waterproof.

Can I bring a device in just for an assessment?

Yes. We can assess devices where the fault is unclear. We will explain any applicable assessment charge before chargeable diagnostic work begins.

Where should I go if Geelong West is temporarily closed?

You can start your repair at any of our other current open stores. Use the Locations page for current store details and opening hours.
